Status of Multiple Thresholds/Data Source

Post by mfarrenk »

Searching for updates, I have found that it is possible to create multiple threshold templates on a single data source. However, auto-creating thresholds just chooses the first template and I haven't found a way yet to manually select a template to apply.

I'm using Cacti/THOLD to monitor the temperature of our telecom closets. Some closets have excellent, top-of-the-line cooling, some closets aren't as great, and some flat out don't have adequate (or any) AC at all. What I want to be able to do is create three templates with appropriate temperature thresholds and notification lists, then select the threshold template I want to apply to the data source. So one template is active for a device at any time, but have it so I can choose which template to apply.

Wondering how far off this is, or if the feature already exists and I just haven't figured out how to do it right. (Always a possibility!)

Using Cacti 0.8.8a and THOLD 0.4.9. Thank you!

I was hoping for an answer too, as I'm looking for similar functionality. I did see a thread from 2010 saying that this was in the works, but it doesn't seem to be the case with version 0.5. Any updates?
