Disable plugins, not from web interface

Enabled a plugin recently and ever since unable to progress pass the login screen with the admin user though guest works fine. My gut feeling it is was either the plugin intropage, dashboard, or ugroup.

Anyways how do I disable this in 8.8b outside the web interface. I was thinking set status=0 in table plugin_config but that failed. Help?

You need to disable the hooks for said plugin in plugin_hooks
