Problem to generate new graph

Post by artidno »

Hi!

I have some problems with add new graphic to monitor in a particular router. For example:

When i select a "create graph for this host" i go to down for selecting "data query" and i can't see all description. Only i can see "Index" I attach print screen. But on another routers i can see all info!

It's a problem of apache?

Thanks in advanced, regards!

Well there might be a number of problems but (just guessing) it might be that SNMP communication betwen that router and cacti host is unstable or too slow. (SNMP uses UDP per default which is very sensitive to packet loss - no retransmission as this protocol is stateless)

Might be that the Network device is not answering as expected or it takes too long to do so.
(those are the most common cases i had to deal with when cacti had problems populating interfaces data on create graph screen)

You might test this in fiew different ways
1) Eaziest just click that little green circle and wait for the refresh to complete - are there any inprovements changes?
2) Run snmpwalk from command line

You might also experiment with the Maximum OID's Per Get Request setting (some devices dislike when You read too many oids in one request)
I have one router that has problems with mor than 5 oids per request and one other device whe i had to set it to 1 :]

One more option You might consider changing is SNMP Timeout try increasing it from default 500 to 1500 for example and click on the green circle (if this solves the problem at least partially it would suggest that the device is answering slower than others and increasing this limit further might help)

If You get proper data on other devices it seems rather unprobable that this is apache issue.
