adding RRA's

I am interested in creating graphs that will show a five minute interval for daily, weekly and monthly...

So I added some RRA's using

Weekly (5 Minute Average):AVERAGE, MAX:0.5:1604800
Monthly (5 Minute Average):AVERAGE, MAX:0.5:1:8928:2678400

And added them to a home brew 95th Percentile in kbits Traffic Graph and end up with some intersting results... I started a continuous ping of 1500 byte packets and then added a second, and then a third. And although the three graphs are showing the same interval, not only did they not start at the same time but they are not showing vaguely similar results.

Are my RRAs set up right? Is there anything else I should be looking at?
