snmpV3 SHA/AES problem

Post by areast »

Dear All

I have search many topic about on cacti by using snmpv3 (SHA / AES 128) issue
Most of the common said that need to use net-snmp and install the OpenSSL support msi package. Then DO NOT use php-snmp
Is there any step by step manual so I could follow up and do the change?
And how do verify the snmp using net-snmp or PHP

BTW currently using cacti 0.8.8c (package downlaod from cacti) + Win2008R2
Running cmd.php
Net-snmp 5.5
PHP version 5.6.3
Also install Win64OpenSSL 0.9.8

The problem is change the snmpv3 (SHA/AES) with the cisco devices with get "SNMP ERROR". BUT MD5/DES work fine
(Running some snmp tester under the server is works)

Below are one for my 2960 switch config
Create Group
snmp-server group <GroupName> v3 priv read <ViewName>

Create View
#snmp-server view <viewName> iso included
#snmp-server view <viewName> system included
#snmp-server view <viewName> mib-2 included
#snmp-server view <viewName> cisco included

Create user
snmp-server user snmpv3 <GroupName> v3 auth sha <password> priv aes 128 <password>

From the attachment the devices status will be "UP" but click into device will be snmp error

comment out php_snmp.dll from php.ini and restart the web server.
Install the latest net-snmp package from http://www.net-snmp.org/
make sure cacti -> settings -> paths are configured correctly.
