Ping with interface option

Post by maperr »

Hi All,

I am new to Cacti, and am looking for a way to ping out of specific interfaces. I have a multi ISP connected server and I need to test both interfaces are up.

I'd like to be able to specify the interface so that I can reuse the script for both interfaces.

For example I am running:

[matt@ablp01 ~]$ ping -c 1 -I eth0 google.com
PING google.com (216.58.208.78) from 192.168.1.80 eth0: 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from lhr14s27-in-f14.1e100.net (216.58.208.78): icmp_seq=1 ttl=55 time=16.4 ms

--- google.com ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 16.411/16.411/16.411/0.000 ms
[matt@ablp01 ~]$

I've had a look around, but couldn't find anything anywhere to assist me in doing this. If I can modify Advanced PING (http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=173542#p173542) this would give me everything I need.

Ta!
Matt
