[solved]Cannot log in to Cacti keeps returning to login page

Hi,

I have installed the Cacti-0.8.8b Window installer on a Windows 2012 R2 server and had everything working with no problems. I have been trying to get LDAP working with Active Directory and not managed to have any luck. I am not sure what I changed but when I pressed Save I was taken back to the login screen. I tried logging in with my local account but the login page just refreshes and I am presented with the login screen again.

I have reset the password on the admin account via MySQL but this does not seem to have had any effect. If I use the wrong password I get "Invalid User Name/Password Please Retype" so I know authentication is working. When I use the correct password cacti.log says "AUTH LOGIN: User 'admin' Authenticated" but just refreshed the login screen without letting me into the console or graph screen.

It's not a huge issue for me to re-install but thought I would reach out to anyone who may have seen this before or be able to suggest something I can reset so I can log back in to the console.

Please let me know if I can supply any further details regarding my installation or log files.

Is LDAP auth still enabled? Might need to resort to using MySQL to disable it in the settings table.
did you change NTFS permissions around after the installer completed? Possibly sounds like php session files are no longer able to be written, which can cause this symptom.

Ah thank you very much for your reply. The auth_method was set to 1 but after some playing around I managed to set it to 0 and get back in then set it back to 1 and it looks like I can get back in now.

To answer your previous question I had not made any permission changes whatsoever.
