[solved] Is anyone monitoring a MS SQL Server 2012 database?

Post by b9313 »

I love Cacti for monitoring our MS SQL Server 2008 databases but with MS deprecating SNMP in SQL Server 2012, what is everyone using to monitor those? I've searched and searched and can't seem to find anything so apparently I'm just barking up the wrong trees. Anyone doing this?

The same scripts for 2008 should work against 2012/2014, etc. What's the problem you're having?

I can get metrics and graphing out of the server itself (cpu info from Windows, for example) but I cannot get the SQL-specific graphs to populate like I can with my SQL2008 servers.

What error(s) are you getting?
What happens when you manually run the script?

Thanks for jogging my brain. I guess I was having a moment there.

I had hard coded the server credentials in ss_win_mssql.php, but the credentials it was successfully using on my SQL2008 servers weren't correct for my SQL2012 servers. Doh!

I just added a quick if/elseif in ss_win_mssql.php to use the proper credentials for the server it was trying to talk to, and voila now I have pretty graphs on all of them.

Thanks again!
