Spine high CPU usage

Post by henriquesc »

Hello

having issues with Spine, it's causing high CPU load of about 175% (~6 load average on a quad-core). Running top there is no doubt it's spine causing it. Server uptime is 40 days.

I tried to fine tune it, setting the number of threads, maximum OIDs per get and Script and Script Server Timeout Value with no noticeable improvement. I followed this article in order to achieve a more conscious approach: http://realworldnumbers.com/cacti-tunin ... t-request/

Currently we run 8 threads, 25 seconds of timeout value and 10 max OIDs per get request. There are around 140 devices and 1300 graphs, a mix of SNMP v3 and SNMP v2.

I checked some spine documentation that says we should not change cron.d/cacti, but apparently it was changed:

* * * * * cacti /usr/bin/php /usr/share/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1

Poller Interval is Every Minute and Cron Interval is also Every Minute.

Can it be the cause of the high cpu load? I'm not sure what role cron has when running Spine so I have not tryed to change it.

Thanks.
