64bit Counter & 0.8.8c

Post by fastswiss »

I currently have an older version in use and realize that I can not monitors about 400Mbits.

Now I want to make a new installation with the latest version of Cacti. In this regard, I have two questions:

- If the 64bit still in 1Gbits interface or runs automatically. What to consider if I want 1GE and 10GE monitors?
- Does it have a graphics complete or I need to change something again? (Had the problem been recorded only 2 or 3 months and the rest always deleted).

Thanks for Feedback and Help.

Why not back up and then upgrade your existing?

Use SNMPv2, use 64bit graph templates, and assuming the device has 64bit counters you're good to go. for 10GE, you might need to move to 1 min polling if you find the counter rolling over.

Hello BSOD2600,
Thanks for the Feedback. I Think is better that we make a new Installation. At the Moment we use 32BIT OS ;(

IS SNMPv2 importent, or what is the Impact when i use v1 ?

SNMPv2 and above support 64bit-counters only.
This has nothing to do with the os architecture.
Cacti Version - 0.8.8h - Poller Type - SPINE 0.8.8h
MySQL - 5.0.54 - PHP - 5.1.6 -RRDTool - 1.2.23 - SNMP - 5.1.2
Plugins - Banner 0.32, Camm 1.6.7, Dashboard 1.2, Fix64bit 0.4, Monitor 1.3, Passwd 0.1, Settings 0.71, Tools 0.3, Realtime 0.5, Rrdclean 1.1, Spikekill 1.3, Syslog 1.22, Thold 0.6

Very true.
However, rrdtool doesnt handle switching OS architectures :( So one would have to rrdtool export and import into new *.rrd files to switch. There are already scripts in the rrdtool mailman list and/or Internet to help facilitate this.
