Migrate and Upgrade Cacti on Windows

Post by areast »

Dear All
Currently using Cacti 0.8.7e + Windows 2003(Physical server)
Target upgrade Cacti 0.8.8c _ Window 2008R2 or 2012(VM)
Basically using D:\ for my cacti which has folder (Apache/net-snmp/php/rrdtool/spine/var)

Please see if this is correct to perform the upgrade
backup the mysql db
backup folder cacti / scripts /rrd files (how about those folder with Apache/net-snmp/php/rrdtool/spine/var ????)

Upgrade Step
1)Install Win2008R2 / 2012
2)Install Cacti 0.8.8c
3)restore the mysql db
4)replace folder cacti, scripts, and rrd files
5)update config file paths if anything changed (under Configuration -> Setting.......does it need to create same path as old server?)

Remember to upgrade spine if you use it.

Also, are both servers the same architecutre ( both 32bit , or both 64bit ) ? otherwise you will have to convert/migrate the rrd files as well.
