Graph data for bandwidth higher than it should be

Post by kimron »

Good day.

I wanted to know why the graph data for inbound/outbound higher than it should be. Can any only help me, because i am monitoring the traffic on a device but it is only allowed 3Mb but cacti graph shows 5.5Mb in traffic.

Also which interface is best to choose when trying to monitor the bandwidth of a device. eg. eth0 or ath0?

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Getting your megaBITS and megaBYTES confused per chance?

That depends on the device and vendor. Typically eth0. Try both and see which is correct...

How do you KNOW PRTG is correct?
Using the same polling interval and averaging periods?
