Monitoring Router

Post by xpreme »

Hi,
I have two questions about using Cacti 0.8.8b.
1) While creating a new device, do I have to add any required plug-in to my cacti? For example there is a "Cisco Router" in host template section. But there is nothing about other brands. What should I do?

2) How can I create graph showing traffic on my Mikrotik RouterOS 5.2? (and even creating such device in cacti)

Thanks in advance

You don't need a host template for a particular device type to monitor a device. Just create the device, and use the "SNMP - Interface Statistics" Data Query. I monitor all my Mikrotiks without any issues.

That is a default query that comes with cacti, if its not there, you have bigger issues.

Sorry. I found it and then I changed my last reply. Actually I am new to Cacti.
I created my device and added the data query you mentioned. Now I am trying to create a graph for this device, I see the following message:
"This data query returned 0 rows, perhaps there was a problem executing this data query. You can run this data query in debug mode to get more information."

My Mikrotik RouterOS is running on VMware Workstation and has 3 interfaces. One is for connecting my host OS and 2 other interfaces are for connecting two different Virtual OSs in different networks. Which interface should I set for data query?

Thanks

I somehow found what I should do. But I have another problem.
SNMP Information
SNMP error

I searched for the solution. It seems this happens because of SNMP connection failure between Cacti and the client. But I could not find any resolution. :(

I have been working intensively with Cacti during the day. Finally I could resolve my SNMP ERROR problem. SNMP was disabled in RouterOS. Now, things are getting better. My problem is only blank graphs. Nothing is shown. :(
