LDAP AD w/ Group Membership, use username

Hello,
I've setup LDAP login to our AD and got it working with Group Membership, but it requires me to use the Distinguished Name instead of the username or it fails.
Is there something I'm missing here? I know the LDAP queries return the DN of users in a group under the 'members' object, but don't see anyway to get my end users the ability to login as their AD username if I'm filtering by a Group Membership.
