can anyone tell me how to fix it? everything else looks allright but cacti is not running, reporting mysql error - no localhost found/server not running (no wonder). also - funny bit - windows is reporting wrong password on entry :)
should I do it manually? any important points for me to remember?

did you previously have mysql installed? If so, the old config files (which include the password) remain, which is why the new MySQL installer failed. remove the old files (typically in c:\programdata\mysql\) and run the cacti installer again.

might be... to be sure I started from the scratch.
still - same type of error, but mysql started properly. I had to install all components manually, used proper passwords and names. at the end I changed mentioned fields in php.ini. should be allright, but now I cannot connect to localhost/cacti.

Now you really broke it :P

did you follow the installation guide http://docs.cacti.net/ when manually installing? IMO, really would be easier to have the CActi installer do it all for you since there are little nuances which are often missed when performed manually.
