poller.php / cactid DOS boxes

Post by micheloe »

Hi,

I took me just over half a day to get this baby running (including compiling my own cactid). That's great! I use it at home to monitor the bandwidth usage (etc.) of my WRT54g wireless router, and it works like a charm!

But, for one thing I haven't found a solution yet. The execution of "php.exe poller.php" from the task scheduler gives me two DOS boxes every 5 minutes. This is kind of annoying, because it runs on a PC I regularly use (it's my HTPC, actually... 8) )

Does anyone have a working solution for scheduling this process in the background every five minutes, or at least, make it run minimized?

Thanks,

Michel

It's an easy fix. Create a user called something like "cacti", give it a password that never expires. Call it "Cacti Poller Process ID". Then change your started task to use that Id instead of yours. Problem solved.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
