Alerts Mail

I am using smtp option on threshold to send alerts email. It always uses "cacti@localhost" no matter how many places I change the senders mail at. Where am I missing?

Even if you set it in Settings, depending on your host setup, your sendmail or PHP could be changing it. Either check your php.ini (if you set it to PHP) or Sendmail configuration (assuming your using Linux since you didn't give much info).
