How much data do the RRDs need before they start displaying?
I have set the graphs up and all is fine. I know it takes some poller runs before the graphs show data. I was curious if someone knew exactly how long it takes for the graphs to display from the polling and if there's anyway to speed it up? It seems it takes a few hours or more usually before the graph data is visible. I can check with rrdtool info and all looks good.

Usually just two poller cycles is enough to start drawing graphs. Except if your timezone configuration is wrong.

I have my timezone set properly in all the php.ini files on the server. I also set my timezone with /etc/localtime. Is there somewhere else I should check as far as timezone goes?

I just checked using rrdtool info on my rrd file. This is the time I got back: 1397749202 aka Thu, 17 Apr 2014 15:40:02 GMTpaulgevers wrote:Usually just two poller cycles is enough to start drawing graphs. Except if your timezone configuration is wrong.
when it should be set to mountain time. I think this will require further tweaking. Let me know if you can think of anywhere to change timezone I haven't yet changed. The cacti log shows the correct time:

I found mysql had a messed up time when I ran select now();
I restarted it and it now displays the correct time. I still wonder if rrdtool will get the right time now. I will keep this post updated if I solve anything further.

Re: How much data do the RRDs need before they start display
Two cycles and all works like it should now. I had to completely delete the wrongly timestamped rrds from cacti/rra. This is a staging server, so it makes no difference for me as far as the lost data. If you are doing this on a production server theres a way to update it using rrdtool.
Thanks for all the help guys!
