how to data query a external postgressql db

Post by relaxibus »

Hi,

I´m looking to find a way to connect to a external postgressql db, read values and graph it (switch port performances). The problem is we can´t use SNMP to do this, but we have a switch managament tool based on postgres that comunicate with the switches.

Anyone has an idea how to to this?

Cheers,

-Jarno

Create a script pulling the data out of the db and have it graph/transfer to Cacti,

do you have something ready to install in Cacti (host template, data query, etc)? I´m not a scripter, but can adapt it.

Unfortunately not. I do have created a template for a customer which reads data from a mysql table and presents it within Cacti, but nothing for postgresql

Hi,

I think this could be a starting point for me to understand the technique to use and to adapt it to postgresql. Could you share your template?
