SNMP timeout issues

Post by dundox »

I have an erratic issue with SNMP timeout errors in Cacti log and occasional gaps in graphs. This is very specific issue that mostly happens with one specific Nexus7k switch, but also, though very rarely, occurs on another Nexus7k switch. The data sources in question are standard 'Interface - Traffic' template. I attached a portion of log reporting this issue and the Cacti config info. I already tried tuning SNMP timeout value, but the errors were present even when stretched from 500 to 5000ms. I also checked if this specific article applies (http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... mbers.html) but, as I have two more Nexus7k that don't experience this kind of issue with the same templates and config parameters in Cacti, I don't find this as a possible explanation. Any ideas what could be a possible cause and approach to analyze/troubleshoot this issue further?

Please, ignore this post. I found the source of this problem and it's not Cacti related. One of the physical network circuits in the SNMP data collection path has had very minor and erratic stability issues. Still, significant enough to affect Cacti's data collection/reporting.
