New Graph Menu

Post by victimist »

Hi Guys

I have 150 Virtual Machines that i need to graph (CPU, MEM, NET, DISK). The script i have which pulls stats must be run against the vcenter server to pull stats of the VM.

As Such, i have defined a device called vCenter in devices list within cacti.

the 1st VM i graphed was nice and easy. I went to New Graphs, changed the device to vCenter, ticked all the graph types i wanted (CPU, MEM, NET, DISK), click create and jobs a gooden.

when i came to add the 2nd device, I went to New Graphs, changed the device to vCenter, but all the graph types i wanted were now greyed out ...SO i had to choose 1 graph type (let say VM Disk) within the Create List, click create and jobs a gooden.
i then had to repeat this process of each graph type i want ... So repeat for CPU, MEM, NET

To make it worse ... I have to do this 150 times

Is there any way to get Cacti to make these graph types available on the vCenter Device all the time?

Thanks

vic

The scripts must take such an issue into account.
The solution is to have a Script Data Query which delivers the wanted set of data per each index, where the index ist the VM in question. This has been described in the documentation at http://docs.cacti.net

Thanks Gandalf

Do you mean create each VM under devices with the appropriate template then graph each device?

Found http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/htm ... evice.html which has helped me add all the Devices.

I am now able to graph each device
