rrd files not updating using spine

I have a strange issue where my rrds will not update using spine but do update using cmd.php. I've enabled debug and there is nothing in the logs indicating a reason.

fresh tar'd download with fresh mysql import and new devices added.

the only custom thing I've done is add a new graph title template in Collection Methods, Data Queries, SNMP - Interface Statistics, In/Out Bytes (64-bit Counters) and added a new title to the top

I fixed this by reimporting some templates from a fresh install. Must have messed up mine.
