[SOLVED] is it snmpd.conf necessary to configured?

[SOLVED] is it snmpd.conf necessary to configured?

hello,
are we really need to configure snmpd.conf to using cacti?
some tutorial say to running cacti, we must setting snmpd.conf . while back, i try to install cacti in my laptop and try to monitoring router(mikrotik in my office). Back then i just following standar installation as prepare mysql,rrdtool,php5, etc. Then i just install cacti, configure to monitoring router so i can see the in/out bandwidth in my router. well, the result is success without setting snmpd.conf first . i don't know why but it getting me confuse. can someone explain to me the relation between snmpd.conf with cacti?please. (sorry for my bad english)

there's no need to change the snmpd.conf on the cacti server itself.

You only need to make sure that you can monitor other systems and then there may be a need to edit that file on the system to be monitored

thanks for the reply. well,at least it convenient when something "bad" happened with my cacti and i don't need to configure the snmpd.conf itself.
