cactid installed but poller not creating/updating rrd files

Hi,

I'm ugrading our cacti box to a new box with the following

RedHat ES 3.0
Apache 2
PHP 4.3.10
Cactid 0.8.6d
cacti 0.8.6c
rrdtool 1.0.49

I dumped and imported the database from the previous machine along with the rrd files and put them in cacti's directory. owner/group for all files in that directory is apache. the crontab is in roots crontab (that doesn't seem to be a problem). Also, I selected the 'upgrade' option as opposed to the 'new install' option when setting cacti up over the web. The imported data and settings seem to be fine as i can manipulate them from the web.

The problem is that when i use cmd.php as the method of polling, it seems to update/create the rrd files but when i use cactid as the method, it does not create the files.

I'm not sure what logs to include in this post but i will be more than happy to do so.

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I was able to set the logging to DEBUG and collect some useful information from it.

I had a different version of libnetsnmp installed along with the manually compiled version. cactid was linking to the wrong libraries, /usr/lib instead of /usr/local/net-snmp/lib

I added /usr/local/net-snmp/lib to ld.so.conf, an ldconfig -v and a php poller.php later, it was working.
