Alias |host_description| in graph template items

Post by GLR »

We massively use aggregated (stacked) graphs gathering together data sources from different devices.
Ex.:
- Switch aggregated link / port channels
- Clusters or groups of nodes' global traffic (bandwidth, requests, sessions...) or CPU overview

We already use the |query_ifName| alias for interfaces but we are however and unfortunately unable to display the datasources' hostnames using a kind of alias |query_host_description| in the graph's legends.
This is a big limitation and induce us to release the graphs from their original templates to provide manually the hostnames in the graph items, what is of course not a good practice...

Hello,

No, I only use manually created graph templates.

Here are some examples of graphs :

Hum... reading your Aggregate plugin documentation, I see the alias |host_description| is simply supported. Always RTFM !
I don't know why, I missed it... :-?
In my mind, this alias didn't work, but actually I didn't tested it recently... (Was it added in a recent release ?)

And it indeed works fine, so great !
Thanks !

Great! worked flawlessly!!

Much appreciated

i was wondering however if you could assist in making a few tweaks to it.
I'm trying to display for another graph, just the total in and total out but using the same or similar template but with minor changes.
in theory i think i know what i should do but could use a new set of eyes..
