Request for major enhancements

Post by dcox »

Please do not read this wrong. I love Cacti!

I would like to see the following enhancements - for ease of configuring and usage:

1. Option for hmib generated reports

2. Add a menu bar with a "back" button to SLOLOG

3. Nectar and Devices enhancements as follows:
a. Ability to add many graphs when creating new items
b. Ability to create custom adds that retain a specific set of the parameters as defined by admin user
c. Ability to move and/or copy items around between reports

I'll start a running list as I go and post new requests once every week or two.

Many thanks for such a great product!!!

you probably need to expand a little on 1 and 2. e.g. what kind of reports? Cacti can already graph from host-mib stuff, if that's what you mean. Also, what's SLOLOG? it seems to be a programming language.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

I thought slolog was a plugin for log monitoring. At least that's why I installed it. I'll double check and see if it's worth bothering with - you may be right...

I was hoping to see the ability to create reports directly from hmib tab.

In fact, I'd like to see the ability, to create and edit reports from all the key setup tabs like "Devices", "Network" (the plugin), HMIB (tab)...

It would help simplify such tasks.

Being able to select multiple devices within the "Devices" page and then create a report from there would be most helpful and save a lot of time.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Danny

Sorry,

Forgot to mention that the reports I am talking about are where you select devices and graphs and then create reports that you can run on schedules. I use these to generate network health reports for weekly manufacturing meetings.

Thanks,

Danny
