Cacti 0.8.8b wrong network traffic and problem with graph

Post by Celestin »

Hi,

When I check network traffic for device on zabbix it shows different ( larger) value than in cacti. E.g. zabbix reports 41.21 Mbps while cacti shows only few Kbps.

Also I have problem with showing real time graphs for network. I get "The Image Cache Directory is not writable. Please set permissions and then attempt to open another realtime graph."
I tried chmod 777 on directory, changing ownership to cacti:apache, cacti:root, apache:apache etc .. but didn't help. under plugin setting I get "dir found" so it can see it but for some reason it can't write to it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you use 1 min polling or the like?
Please see 2nd link of my sig to debug and find out, which values are returned by that host. Do that for at least two consecutive polling intervals as you will have to compute the difference in the numbers return to get the real traffic reported by the device.

Hi,

Sorry, I picked wrong value ( bytes - bits) so that was why it showed wrong result.

But I still cant fix that "The Image Cache Directory directory does not exist. Please first create it and set permissions and then attempt to open another realtime graph." when using real time graph.

I tried anything, changing chmod y chown (usr apache etc.) to the new realtime folder and doesn't work.
The only solution that work is celestin wrote:
