How to upgrade from 8.8a to 8.8b and install plugins

Post by tpolimeni28 »

Hi All!!! I am new to the Linux world along with setting up CACTI on linux. If at all possible can someone assist me with upgrading cacti to the latest and greatest version. I am running ubuntu 13.04 server, also noticed that I cannot figure out how to get the plugin function to work as well. Any help is great thanks!!

I just uploaded the 0.8.8b package tomorrow to the ppa in my signature. You can add that ppa to your sources. Never mind that it is called quantal, cacti is php source only and works on every ubuntu release currently supported.

What problems are you experiencing with the plugins? Plugin functionality should work out of the box.

088b is a bug fix release only. Plugins should not be affected

I am unable to get plugins to show up. I extract the file place them in the folder plugins but never show up on the plugins table. I could be doing something wrong as I stated im new to Ubuntu and Cacti install for Ubuntu as I have used ezcacti for windows in past were all plugs in were preinstalled in the package. sorry for my stupidity

Can you give us some more info?

Where is your cacti install?
Where are you extracting the plugins to?
What is the name of folder you placed the plugin in (thold must be in a folder named exactly "thold")
What are the permissions on the folder?

Figured it out appears that the cacti installed in 2 dif paths found the right path and got the plugins working.

Now is there anywhere I can read on here how to configure the TFTP function for router config backsups? Also are there any plugins that I can use to push bulk config updates across the network?
