Hi Guys,
I installed Cacti but have one problem on it. Previously the polling was a plugin but now is incorporated with the install of Cacti 0.8.8b.
When I set up a device to ping it gives me the following error: ICMP ping Timed Out
Under Utilities and Poller I've used "Spine and cmd.php" but not one of these work. The Spine Poller file path is correct and giving me "OK file found" under paths.
So I don't know if there might be something else wrong. Please if someone can assist.
Regards
Polling on 0.8.8b

Re: Polling on 0.8.8b
Please explain better what you mean. I don't think polling has ever been a plugin, so you probably mean something else than what I read.Ulrich85 wrote:Previously the polling was a plugin
Have you tried the other "ping" methods?Ulrich85 wrote:When I set up a device to ping it gives me the following error: ICMP ping Timed Out
I suggest you read the debugging help

Re: Polling on 0.8.8b
Hi, I met the same problem:
1) New install centos 6.3
2) New install cacti0.8.8b (spine 0.8.8b)
When creat a new device (such as a cisco router), after click "save" button,
the "ping results" is:
Ping Results
ICMP ping Timed out
If I change ping method, both UDP ping and TCP ping got sucess result:
Ping Results
UDP Ping Success (0.98 ms)
Please help us find a way to solve icmp ping problem.
Thanks!!!

Re: Polling on 0.8.8b
hello,
I checked scripts/ping.pl, I found the owner and group is different from other files.
Maybe I imported it when I add some template.
So I overwrited it by my backup file.
But it is still icmp timed out when I refesh web page,
then I restarted my centos, then, ICMP ping result is OK.
(Maybe I wait 5 minutes or more, I need not restart my OS...)
Hope this will be useful.

Re: Polling on 0.8.8b
I cant get my ICMP to work neither, it always show "ICMP ping Timed out".
I'm using cmd.php and I dont have spine installed .. everything works fine (even the advanced ping template) but the UP/Down detection through ICMP isnt working.
I'm using cacti 0.8.8b and CentOS release 6.4 (Final)
Any clue?
