Amazon Linux with "illegal attempt to update using time..."

I just turned up a new EC2 instance running the Amazon Linux AMI. I installed cacti from their repository (version is 0.8.8a-5.6.amzn1) and I've been struggling to get graphs working. This is basically a stock install and I haven't added any devices or created any custom graphs or anything. My cacti DB is on an Amazon RDS instance and I don't think that's related, but I just wanted to give as much information as possible.

I don't believe this is an issue where the poller is running on top of each other, at least not from cron and I'm not running it by hand. Here is my cron log:

What's really crazy about this is that I attempted this yesterday and ran into a wall so I just left it. When I came back, I actually had a tiny bit of graphs starting at midnight and then it broke again. However, since that I have started all over again, so I'm not certain if that will happen again tonight or not.

I originally thought my issue was because my RDS instance was running mysql 5.6.12 so I had to manually install the mysql-5.6.12 rpms. This was ugly because php-mysql depended on mysql55-libs and that clashed with the MySQL-shared rpms.

So, to eliminate those variables, I have built a new RDS instance that is running 5.5.31 and I'm using all of the php-mysql and other mysql RPMs from yum.

My next step will be to try spine, but I wanted to get this out there first just in case someone can think of something I might be doing wrong or maybe not checking. Thanks, in advance for any help.

Maybe somethign is goofy with time/date on my system? I set the system time and the timezone in php.ini, and ntpd is running. Not sure what else it could be.

Ok. I resolved this. Turns out the default for the Amazon RDS instances is that they are UTC (and you can't really change them). I was assuming it would be PDT because mine are in Oregon. Anyway, once I set my php timezone and system timezone to also be UTC then all was gravy.
