Initial Login not prompting for username or password

Post by mpuras »

Hi all. New user to Cacti but looking forward to it. I am running into a problem with the initial launch. I have followed the instructions word for word but in step 4 it states to "http://your-server/cacti/" which I have done (substituding my domain name in) and then I should get prompted for a username and password but I am not. I am simply just seeing a list of all the cacti files. I am using Apache2. Can anyone lend some pointers? Thanks.

Sounds like either PHP or your default document is not working correctly.

Check into your web server configuration.

Thanks for your help. I ended up reinstalling PHP using easyphp and I got beyond the initial issue I was having. However, I am now having another issue. When I point my web browser to http://<my address>/cacti I get the following error:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in C:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\lib\adodb\drivers\adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 339

If I point to the web broswer to http://<my address>/cacti/auth-login.php I do see a login screen but the very first line says:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: read_config_option() in C:\Apache2\htdocs\cacti\auth_login.php on line 139

I have no clue on what to do next being that I am pretty new to all this. Thnaks,

First, you don't directly point to auth_login.php. ;)

Second, search the forums, the error you are getting, others have posted about.
