Re: Add Cisco Description field to Graph title
In my graph template, for the graph title I have: |host_description| - |query_ifAlias|. This will query the description of the Cisco interface that you are graphing.Neilbo wrote:Has anyone figured out how query description field and add it to the graphs? I was wanting to show the manaul description. Currently it lists the port number and the vlan interface. In my switches I also add a more custom description to the interface telling me what the vlan is for. If this could be pulled and inserted into cacti, I could eaisly remember what the vlans are for.

Looking for the exact snmp query for manaul des. It pulls interface description but I want it to also add the extra descrption whch can be input into each interface on a cisco swtich.
ex
interface vlan 300
Description Used For Managament Vlan
There is an actual description field but I cannot figure out the correct query snmp query for it.

Re: Add Cisco Description field to Graph title
I just tried this (I think) and it didn't work. What am I missing?NetAdmin wrote:In my graph template, for the graph title I have: |host_description| - |query_ifAlias|. 1.) total bone stock cacti install
2.) one cisco switch added using Cisco Router host template
3.) graph created for each interface using In/Out Bits (64-bit Counters)
at this point it starts graphing the traffic in and traffic out of each interface, and the title across the top reads: "core-1 - Traffic - Gi1/1" which corresponds to "|host description| - Traffic - |query_ifName|"
Now my problem is I want it to add the text from the interface's "description" line in IOS. I notice during a verbose query of the device the info is being collected and is named "ifAlias". So I tried this:
1.) console -> Graph Templates -> Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) -> Title
it was |host_description| - Traffic
I changed it to |host_description| - |query_ifAlias| - Traffic
Unfortunately 15 minutes later none of the graphs have changed. According to the documentation (http://docs.cacti.net/node/33):
Where am I going wrong? After a graph is attached to a particular graph template, all changes made to the graph template will propagate out to all of its graphs.

Re: Add Cisco Description field to Graph title
This works for me but is there any way to suppress |query_ifAlias| from displaying in the graph description when there is no port description defined on the switch?
I have quite a few ports without descriptions so that would be great to suppress this text for those ports automatically.

Re: Add Cisco Description field to Graph title
I need that too (supression of query_ifAlias if not configured at router). Anybody share.

Re: Add Cisco Description field to Graph title
I've got this working, but when I update a description I would expect to see it updated at the next interval, instead it's still the old description of "SPARE" and not the new interface description (alias). Any ideas?
