rrdtool not running for a host

Post by stevenpinto »

I have several hosts. When I look in cacti.log I can't seem to find any entries for a particular host. i.e. no /usr/bin/rrdtool update /var/www/cacti/rra/... entry. I do see some entries for this host in the cacti.log:

I somehow kick started it by running rddtool update manually from the command line. Now what's happenign is data is being collected but its not being graphed:

My first guess would be to check the permissions on the rra directory (and now also on the kick started rrd files).

For that particular host all the SNMP items are being collected and graphed but all of the scripts are not. According to the logs, the data is being collected from the scripts it's just not being graphed.

Also, there are other devices where all scripts and SNMP items are being graphed. It's just happening to one of the hosts.

Accordfing to 2nd link of my sig, you should test that very host, then. Increasing debugging level a bit should show you, whether scripts are being executed at all. If yes, you next should try to find, whether rrdtool updates are performed (and perhaps fail).
This should help to narrow down your issue
