net-snmp configuration

Post by peter89 »

Hi profis!

I want to make with cacti a SNMP-Query to query values from a Microcontroller. Microcontrollers IP-Adress is 198.168.1.10 community: public

This are the Steps i made:

.) Install caci with the windows installer
.)set the timezone in php
.) Under services i deactivate the snmp-service
.)my snmpd.conf for net-snmp: rocommunity:public

But when i want to query it from cmd (localhost): its not working

I am a newbie in snmp and so on. Is there still a command for cmd if the net-snmp is working?

And i am stick with the snmp / net-snmp configuration

Is there a How to to configure the snmp service for windows 7 and for the net-snmp. I installed snmp and disabled it but the net-snmp works not.

U P D A T E :

i change my Ip for LAN do 192.168.1.12 (this is for the microcontroller)

then i want to test snmp7netsnmp -->

when i run in command this:

C:\>snmpget -v1 -c public localhost sysDescr.0

SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = String: windows HOST Service Pack 1 Home edition intel64 Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7

(is this my net-snmp agent?)

but this:

C:\>snmpwalk -v1 -c public localhost versiontag

i got a warningbox said 2C:\windows\system32\snmpwalk is no allowed Win32 - Application --> i translate this warning from german to english i hope its right!

So why i can make a get but no walk?

1) you didnt start with http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11747
2) I highly recommend you stick with the microsoft snmp agent.
3) what OID is 'versiontag' suppose to translate to?
4) Not sure why snmpwalk isnt working on the german local OS. Might check if there is an update to net-snmp and/or search their mailing list for this known problem.
