Configstore Issues

Post by TSPARR »

Now bear with me as I'm not fully versed in Linux as of yet. I'm more of Windows guy, but as I slowly move more into a sysadmin role I'm starting to learn it. I've got my Cacti install running Cacti 0.8.8a install using CactiEZ 0.7. Plugins currently installed:
Autom8 0.36
Configstore 0.7
Aggregate 1.01
Monitor 1.3
Mactrack 3.0
Errorimage 0.2
Flowview 1.3
Settings 0.71
Jqueryskin 0.1
Maint 0.3
Discovery 1.5
Syslog 1.22
Thold 0.5
Watermark 0.2
Webmin 0.1

I just can't seem to get Configstore to work properly with my Cisco 6509 core switch. I haven't tried on any other switches yet as I wanted to get just one working before I started working on others, so I'm not positive if it's this particular switche's issues or something else. When I try using SNMP v1 (which I know for a fact our switch is using) and entering in the RW community string, I get this in the debug screen:
/usr/bin/snmpset -r 3 -t 500 -Oqv -v 1 -c <rwcommunity> 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.2.111 i 1 SUCCESS
/usr/bin/snmpset -r 3 -t 500 -Oqv -v 1 -c <rwcommunity> 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.3.111 i 4 SUCCESS
/usr/bin/snmpset -r 3 -t 500 -Oqv -v 1 -c <rwcommunity> 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.4.111 i 1 SUCCESS
/usr/bin/snmpset -r 3 -t 500 -Oqv -v 1 -c <rwcommunity> 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.5.111 a 192.168.1.17 SUCCESS
/usr/bin/snmpset -r 3 -t 500 -Oqv -v 1 -c <rwcommunity> 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.6.111 s 192.168.1.1.cfg SUCCESS
/usr/bin/snmpset -r 3 -t 500 -Oqv -v 1 -c <rwcommunity> 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.14.111 i 1 SUCCESS

yet nothing goes through. Maybe 1/3 of the time I get this:
/usr/bin/snmpset -r 3 -t 500 -Oqv -v 1 -c <rwcommunity> 192.168.1.1:161 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.2.111 i 1 FAILED

6

When that happens I get this message in /var/log/httpd/error_log:
Error in packet.
Reason: (badValue) The value given has the wrong type or length.
Failed object: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.2.111

I tried to use the telnet method, but our switch doesn't use a username, just a password to login and an enable password. Leaving the username field blank leaves me with this in the debug: spawn 192.168.1.1
and the /var/log/httpd/error_log shows:
couldn't execute "": no such file or directory
while executing
"spawn $telnet $ipaddr"
(file "/var/www/html/plugins/configstore/lib/cisco_ios-telnet.exp" line 36)

So yeah, I think that's everything. Anyone who knows what's going on? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I never did get SNMP to work, but that's ok because I got the telnet method to work. What I had to do was go into the cisco_ios-telnet.exp file and manually drop the different variables down a number, so that it was using the correct text box to get it's variable and then comment out the area where usernames were.
