Script/Command data not showing under cactid 0.8.6d

Post by jwhalen »

Hi All,

I compiled cactid 0.8.6d last week on a RH linux box and everything is running as it did under cmd.php, except command scripts I have collecting data with no hosts associated with them. These are things like our server room temperature sensors. They were working fine under cmd.php 0.8.6c.

I turned on debug logging and the data input and data sources do not show up in the log, so I cannot tell if cacti is even attempting to execute them. I've verified the permissions and can run them from the command line as the cacti user.

The data source debug and graph debug show no errors, but no values are recorded. Also, I created a new data input method, data source, and graph following the documentation walkthrough for the random number script, and no rrd file is created. It is though when I go back to cmd.php.

Lastly, Script/Command input types are working for scripts that are specific to a host, for example memory checking perl scripts using the nagios client on windows boxes.

Is this an issue with scripts with no host on 8.6d? Is the binary for cactid 0.8.6c available? Any help is appreciated.

Okay. I found the 0.8.6c version on the download page and compiled it, with the help of the modifications listed in a thread under the unstable versions topic. The scripts without hosts are now updating with this version of cactid.

Okay, I lied. Sorry, but I just realized I still had cmd.php selected. Now when I do select cactid in settings/poller/poller type and actually hit the save button, I do not have data for my Script/Command input types not associated with a host. Also, still nothing in the logs on debug mode.

I noticed the logs when it works with cmd.php, the entries for my scripts have Host[0] associated with them. With cactid, there are no lines with Host[0].

Any thoughts? Let me know if I can provide more info.

So I keep responding to my own posts. It works out in the end anyway.

In case anyone cares, I was able to get a workaround for this by simply associating the data source with a host. It can be any host because the data has nothing to do with it, but when associating it with a host I get my data.

It's a known issue. I maintain it. Let me look at it tonight. Maybe I can hack something in.
