[solved] Please HELP

Post by joachim5 »

Hi. I am new in cacti!

At first sorry for my English i am from austria!

I installed cacti with the windowsinstaller but i had so many problems so i took a CLEAN Windows 7 Laptop and installed on it brand new. Then i followed the post-install instruction, restart the server and the laptop. After that i opened cacti and saw at first the SNMP Error by my localhost!? For Testing i create a new tree and a device like this:

Description: Google
Hostname: http://www.google.at
Host Template: None
Number of Collection-Threads: 1 Thread (default)
Downed Device Detection: PING
Ping Method: ICMP Ping
Ping Timeout Value: 400
Ping Retry Count: 1
SNMP Version: 2
SNMP Community:
SNMP Port:161
SNMP Timeout:500
Maximum OID's Per Get Request:10

Then i create a graph for this host(Unix Ping Lagentacy).......output are blank graphs

My Errorlog:

Cacti log

WARNING: SNMP Get Timeout for Host:'localhost', and OID

Apache log:

Pango-WARNING **: couldn't load font "C:/windows/Fonts/VeraMono.ttf Not-Rotated 8", falling back to "Sans Not-Rotated 8", expect ugly output.

etc.

Please help me with this i need this for school!!!

THANKS

1) follow http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11747
2) snmp errors. did you install/configure the snmp agent for Windows yet? validated is functional with a snmpwalk?
3) Why Unix Ping Latency when your device is windows? wrong script.

Thanks for answering!

I run ur installer. Do i have to configure the snmp too, or make this the installer automaticall?
Sorry what means "validated is functional with a snmpwalk? --> what i have to do?

For my Ping...what script should i take?--> i just want to test that the graph are showing anything!

I know i am not the best cactiuser but when everything works fine i want to fiddle more with cacti.

Thans u in advance!

Yes.

C:\> snmpwalk -v 1 -c public localhost system

if you get a timeout, then not properly configured.

Ok i got a timeout!

I have another question to the "Post Install Instructions".

How do I have to set the cacti task User/pass?
When i go to the cacti scheduled task there is under "execute" --> "System".
Do i have to change this to my computername/username?

Next question:...

Exists a How-to for configurate the Net-snmp for windows 7?

Thanks

only required if you want to poll other windows devices with WMI scripts.

No need. I strongly suggest you stick with the microsoft snmp agent.
