Hi
i've a script that read my bandwidth from IPE which has no snmp option, and the script output like this
[root@MRTG1 ~]# /usr/local/bin/getstat -h IPE-Address -x -i NetworkSubnet
21876970361
0
0
IP address: NetworkSubnet
[root@MRTG1 ~]#
right now i just put this line into MRTG Target and i get drawing for my bandwidth same as if i use snmp.
i wanted to use this script with my Cacti but i got into loop with no solution as i dont understant what are those numbers, and how to calculate them.
so i created a script that gives me only the first line.
21876970361
and create data input, template, and graph template then assign them to my subnet.
i got drawing but was totally wrong
as MRTG shows that Current speed is 340.1 kb/s and Cacti shows 174.97 G
in my graph template i use Turn Byte into Bits option same as i found on Snmp Interface Graph Template.
please advice me how to make cacti read my traffic correctly from this command line output.
attached exported template for my data, host and graph and a drawing from Cacti VS MRTG.
i wish someone can explain those numbers and how to use them in cacti
Thanks

Re: None SNMP Traffic Reading
Lots of useful documentation in http://docs.cacti.net.
Looks like you probably used a DS type of gauge instead of counter. Look at the existing snmp -traffic templates to get an idea how it should be set up -- with the exception that your data is via script instead of snmp.

Re: [solved] None SNMP Traffic Reading
everything works fine but i have a small issue
i've some IPs which have max bandwidth 8Mb or 512k ,,,,, and sometimes network graph grow unexpectedly to Pb or Tb which is wrong, and daily or monthly graph will always show empty with one bar upto 2Tb, and the correct value will not be shown because it is very small to max number. i would like to set max bandwidth for graph that doesn't exceed it same as in MRTG. i set the Max Value to 512000 same as in my MRTg but i'm not sure whither this right or wrong
please advise

Two options:
- either use spikekill or
- define a reasonal data source MAX value for this very interface
R.
