Connect multiple cacti instances to a single database?

Post by strider5 »

I have multiple datacenters and a single cacti install right now. My current cacti can only poll switches in that datacenter.

Can I install another cacti per datacenter and simply point them at the MySQL of the existing cacti? (I have that connectivity already)

Thanks in advance!

Should do. Edit config.php to point to the remote Cacti db. But do NOT add a crontab entry on the new system. Now you should be able to work on two servers against the same db. But when editing a host on the new system (or add graphs or stuff), this system will try to connect to the target host. This may fail while the "old Cacti system" can conect to the target host ...
Be careful ...
