gaps in graphs

Post by sovtek1971 »

Hello

Cacti 0.8.7e on Ubuntu 10.04 RRDtool 1.3.8
I'm getting intermittent gaps in all graphs for all devices/servers on my network except the cacti server. It is at the same time across all devices. I looked for log errors that correspond to the gaps but I'm not sure they are related.
There doesn't seem to be a network problem as I can ping the devices when the gaps appear and there is no dropped packets.

From the logs
01/21/2013 07:24:59 AM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 298 seconds exceeded. Exiting.

Your network isn't the problem, you are running out of time on your poller cycle.
POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 298 seconds exceeded. Exiting
Appears you are using cmd.php, have you tried using Spine?

I am using cmd.php like you said. I looked into changing to spine although I've seen some people have problems after changing over. I'm using this cacti server as monitoring for a production environment so I have to test that change first.
I noticed that I'm getting that poller error even when there are no gaps in the graphs. I haven't had any gaps in graphs the past 12 hours and I get that error quite often
01/22/2013 03:09:55 PM - PHPSVR: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 292 seconds exceeded for the Script Server. Exiting.
I'll let ye know how I get on after the spine change.

Thanks

Sorry I just realized thats not exactly the same error but after double checking again I do indeed have the same error several times throughout today and I have no graph gaps today.

Well, the graph gaps do not appear in all graphs, but at the ones which would have been processed at the very end of that polling cycle.
You may want to check all of your graphs for gaps.
