Status Not Updating of Host

Post by sunzeal »

Hi

IDK why but my status is not updating to " Down " even after the host is down.

I have selected " Detection Method " to UDP and when i click on my machine name, and if it's down, it will show : UDP Ping Timed Out but the status of the machine still shows up.

IDK why, in /etc/crontab, instead of that 5, i replaced it with 1 and still after many minutes nothing happens.

Please help, m noob into linux and learning these stuff.

Also, for graph to be prepared of other servers, do i have to install cacti in those servers too, right ?

And i tried doing that, I installed CACTI in 2 machines, and tried to have CPU usage and Memory Usage Graph of remote machine, but it doesn't seem to be working, is their any other thing i am supposed to to do ?

No need to install Cacti on all servers to be monitored.
You should perhaps start with a default installation, that uses default polling times. And start reading http://docs.cacti.net/manual:088
