Hi,
I am rather puzzled in that we have one Cacti install that has:
ifHCInUcastPkts
ifHCOutUcastPkts
ifHCOutMulticastPkts
etc
(basically it has all kinds of 64 bit counters for Packet type)
Our other Cacti install that we are just spinning up only has 64 bit counters for traffic (bits/sec, etc).
My question is what am I missing, have forgotten about, need to import in order to get 64 bit counters for unicast, multicast, broadcast, etc. Our dropdown menu has just the most basic of selections.
The one that doesn't have the needed menu items is: Cacti Version Version 0.8.7i
The one that does have what we need is: Cacti Version 0.8.7g
Please advise.
Thanks,
jg

Where did you look at? Interface.xml???

Re: No ifHCInUcastPkts in drop down menu
Hi Gandalf,
Even after I add them to interface.xml I don't see them in the drop down menu where you "Create Graphs" for a Device.
So I would say pick "Cisco 2821 Router", then select a Gig-E interface that does respond to a snmpwalk that returns 64 bit counters for various packet types, then when I go down to bottom right hand corner of screen to "Select a graph type" there is no corresponding selection.
Please see attached screenshot. These are the only options I have.
I reverted back to my old interface.xml on this install of Cacti that isn't working for 64 bit packet types. I tried manually adding them via vi to interface.xml in:
/var/www/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml
And that didn't work as I just noted. I also tried importing a template from here:
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=36691
And that didn't work either. Not sure what is going on.
Here's a snip from the snmpwalk on this box that does show the device returning 64 bit counters so I don't think it is my net-snmp RPM.

Re: No ifHCInUcastPkts in drop down menu
What about this for an idea? Can I take the interface.xml file on the working Cacti installation (Version 0.8.7g) and import it into the newer version of Cacti (Version 0.8.7i) via:
Import/Export-> Import Templates?
What I did before was just edit the interface.xml file directly on the new install.
Will this somehow make the 64 bit counters for unicast, multicast and broadcast appear in the menu for available graph types? I think I am missing something though... won't I need some sort of DataSource or what not that actually know about
ifHCInUcastPkts
ifHCInMulticastPkts
etc?
thx,
jg

BOOYAH!!!!
If anyone ever needs the 64 bit counters for packet type this is the template of most kick ass awesomeness:

So we can consider this "solved"?
