Missing data for months ago
Hi everyone
linux ver : Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga)
Cacti Version 0.8.7b
RRDTool Version RRDTool 1.2.23
The server is setup for over a year, which is running smoothly until now.
As refer to attach graph, we found that only 16 days data is displayed, other data is missing from the yearly graph.
I have read through some similar topic on the forums, it mention that there is something relate to rrdtool consolidation settings, however the RRAs configure remain unchanged (default setting). Any other consolidation settings I should beware of?
I am really run out of idea which area I should look into, would you please give me a hand
Thanks
Paul

Re: Missing data for months ago
Go to Data Sources -> click on the desired Data Source's name -> Turn On Data Source Debug Mode
and post the results of that
and post the results of that

Re: Missing data for months ago
Well, your step value is set to 10 seconds, when the usual default is 300.
I don't think that's what you want, so I suggest you change it. Also, if those 10 seconds are the not the behavior you wanted, I have no idea what caused it, since you said it's been running smoothly for some time.
However, I don't think it'll get you your old data back. Most likely, it'll start gathering data at a normal rate again.
BTW, if you do wish to maintain the 10s step, you'll have to re-calculate you RRAs.

Looking at the screen shot you provided, it is 10.Qinxocy wrote: my steps is 60 seconds..

Re: Missing data for months ago
Just find out that there are some devices with "step 300" also experience the same problem

Post the results of the data source debug for those devices with 300s step

Re: Missing data for months ago
those RRAs look correct. for how long has this device been polled?
make sure both your poller and cron intervals are set to 5 minutes on cacti's interface, under Settings -> Poller
also, post here your cron entry for poller.php

Re: Missing data for months ago
Thx for supporting; but you can't judge RRA settings from DAta Source panel. You should always have an "rrdtool info" of that file, as changes to the data tenplate may NOT have been propagated to the rrd file that has been created before such a changevictorantunes wrote:those RRAs look correct.

Re: Missing data for months ago
Thank you. I was not aware of that.
I always assumed the transitions of data between data templates and file structures were seamless.
Guess it's true what they say about assumption being the mother of all major misunderstandings.

Thanks Victorantunes & gandalf
The problem is solved
The problem is caused by
1) misleading information (those yearly graph is not working from the beginning)
2) step and RRAs mismatch (10 second step with RRAs for 5mins)
3) that 2375.rrd is belong to a new add device, so it can't be use as a reference
Victorantunes you are correct in the very beginning
After I unify the "step" in related data template and recalculate the RRAs, I got a correct looking .rrd file
Just wondering is there any way to change all step in data template at once?
Here is the RRAs setting for 10 second step
