Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 32-Bit
Webserver: apache 2.4.3
Cacti: cacti-0.8.8a
Spine: cacti-spine-0.8.8a
MySQL: mysql 5.5.27
PHP: php 5.4.7
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 build): rrdtool-1.2.15-cygwin-1.5.20

Cygwin (cygwin1.dll version): ?
Plugin Architecture: 3.1
hello guys,
pls sorry i'am very new in cacti and my english it not the best but i need help.
my cacti, i think runs pretty well , i only want to know is it possible to poll or plot data "available disk space" only in a 30min or 1hr interval and if yes how do i get it to work for me???
for example cpu utilization in standard 5 min interval is ok i think, but i need disk space only in a 30min interval.
i change the settings from 300 to 1800 in the "data templ" -> "host-mib - hard drive space" -> "step use per data source" value", but now i get many warnings in the cactilog "Poller Output Table not Empty"
pls help and thanks for all help
and thanks to the cact developer team great work hope that the project cacti will be contine ^^ and also great work to the developer off the plugins there are amazing work too.

No, it's not easy to change the polling interval to 30 min. Why won't 5 minutes suffice?

Re: Need Diskspace Availabel in a 30min interval
what about building yourself a custom RRA, or using the Weekly (30 minute average) graph setting that comes with Cacti?
Re: Need Diskspace Availabel in a 30min interval
Just like its a lot of work to get 1 min polling properly configured, the same holds true for 30 min. Yes, it's possible... just not simple.

Re: Need Diskspace Availabel in a 30min interval
hi again and thx for answering
@ BSOD2600
I am a student and writing my thesis about network management.
my main program in this work is cacti ^^:D
now I've talked with my professor and he wants an adjustment of the graph to keep network traffic low.
so I would be very grateful for a link or a description.
@ victorantunes
thanks for the advice.
how do I build a custom rra with cacti?
------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------
and I need both 5min pool for anything other stuff
only hdd in 30 min interval
-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------
so please i need help
thx all

Re: Need Diskspace Availabel in a 30min interval
when trying to understand RRAs for the first time, I've found no better tutorial than this: http://ds9a.nl/rrd-mini-howto/cvs/rrd-m ... wto-1.html
BTW, would you care to explain exactly why you WANT/NEED 30min polling explicitly for hard drives?
You could simply use a default 5min polling and use the results of every 6 poll cycles.
Unless we're talking about a device that is only capable of generating data once every 30 minutes, then I don't think there's any reason why a standard 5min polling wouldn't suffice.
If you let us know of your reasons, perhaps we can help you better.

Thanks for the help I'm going to read the tutorials
@ victorantunes
explanation
I wanted to keep it short ->sorry
my english is not good and I did not want that no one understands me
I need the 30min interval not only for hard disks.
I written myself a few templates. for switches, which read the temperature and the power supply, etc. ,
but I need this data not every 5 minutes this data can appear in hour segments or longer.
additionally we use switches between 10mbit and 10000mbit so it will be great to keep traffic low on the 10mbit switches.
I think best for this will be use traps, but i do not know to configure this in cacti ^^ but this didn't matter.
I only need tamplates that work in different interval to keep traffic low and makes my Professor happy
hope you understand my problem
and thx for all
best regards

Re: Need Diskspace Availabel in a 30min interval
I'm not sure you understand how the polling process works.
I've never tried, but I suppose it would be a great deal of work to make polling work on different intervals for each data source on Cacti. Perhaps you'd have better luck using another RRDtool polling app, or even maybe building yourself a custom poller, but I don't think Cacti does what you want out of the box.
But anyway, I think your biggest problem comes from you not totally understanding the fundamentals of Cacti/RRDtool.
Basically, your data is gathered at explicitly regular intervals (commonly 5 minutes), and it is stored in .rrd files. From there, you can view your data however you want.
Now, say you want only 30min intervals, then all you need is to build an RRA with a step value of '6', so it'll only build a CDP once every each 30min. Voilá.
Also, I don't quite get your reasoning behind 'keeping the traffic low' on the 10mb switches, but I guess if you want the traffic to APPEAR lower than it is, as in not having lots noisy data, you can just apply a CDEF to the graph template.
Something like dividing the data by 10 or 100, just a thought.

@victorantunes
^^ yes i say it i'am new in cacti there is much i didn't understand, but i give my best to learn it.
and my argument with the traffic is not from me it is from my Professor and it's "true". He gave me the assignment, because there are other programs that use traps for some queries which i use to poll.
which means I build myself more traffic than necessary for reading hdd stats powerstats link-up link-down and so on and this displeases my Professor.
nevertheless thank you for the help I'll try my best
currently I work already with net-snmp trapd and snmptt
hope that works.
there is a plugin for cacti camm
I hope I manage to Combine both
