Thanks for the templates! Working great with our IBM SAN24B-4's! Will let it pull some data overnight tonight and see how the graphs look in the morning.

Hi, does this template work with Cacti 0.8.8a? There have been some posts with fixes and patches, are there a new version out for this template?

Is this working with 0.8.8a? And in which post is the newest version of this template?

@GarsDuCalvados
Sorry, i cant help you without more information. Try running a verbose query and see what seems to be broken.
Also, i would suggest upgrading your cacti/spine.

@Jake11
Youre welcome! :)

@vrban
I went through the pages from page 13 until i found a download, i couldnt see any patches. Maybe a promise from me that i didnt keep.

@mastrboy

Thanks for the link, did you check compatibility with 0.8.8a?

Hi,

i have a problem with that template.

I have implemented this on several Switches. It works fine! Thanks for the programming :-)

But my Ports start with Port 1. For example a B24 Switch : Port 1 to 24.

But on the switch it self, it starts with Port 0 - 23 ...

Do you have any Idea to let Cacti start with Port 0?

Thanks

Hi,

ok i searched a bit:

When i create the graph the Title of the Graph aks me for a Name. By default it is filled with :
|host_description| - FC monitor - port |query_ifIndex|

For me it means query_ifIndex is wrong, it must be "query_ifIndex - 1" but how can i change this in the Host, Data, graph Template?

Thanks for your Help!

Hello,

i have found the problem.

description of Port was empty. If you fill it: query_ifdescr works fine :-)

Hello,

I cant get this template working with our SAN switches embedded in our IBM HS23 bladecenters. As far as I have been able to find out the models are supposedly "Brocade 5470 Embedded Switch (type 73.6)".
After looking at the OIDs inside the "resource/snmp_queries/brocade_interfaces.xml" file it appears that these switches have a different OID layout. In the query xml file the OIDs are like this type:

<oid_index>.1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.1</oid_index>
<oid_num_indexes>.1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.1.0</oid_num_indexes>
<oid>.1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.1</oid>
<oid>.1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.4</oid>
<oid>.1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.36</oid>
... etc ...

After fiddling a bit with the MIBS map downloaded from Brocade's website and poking around with snmpwalk/snmpget the the OIDs tree for these switches appear to have differrent numbers.

Example for the CRC counters (swFCPortRxCrcs):
brocade_interfaces.xml -> .1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.22
5470 Embedded Switch (type 73.6) -> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.27.1.1.16.0.0.39.248.78.10.223.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0

Has another else encoutered these problems?
Is anyone else using the same type Brocade switches with Cacti and is willing to share their templates?

Thanks for any help you might able to supply!

You refer to description, eh? This is possible by using the cacti query variable |query_ifDescr| defined by the Data Query XML file. Goto Data Queries, select this one. Then selec tthe Graph Template and find the Suggested Values section. Apply a new title using this variable.
1. If it does: Does cati check and update these regularly?
That depends on the Re-Index Method. Newest cact has a php script that you may run regularly by cron: poller_reindex_hosts.php
2. What happens when you add an additional blade to a 24000 in relation to graphing?
I don't know this device. When re-indexing, the new ports will be found but no graphs will automatically be created. You have to create them as usual
Reinhard
I have 3 questions about the above conversation. I'm running 0.8.8a on RHEL 6, installed from the EPEL.
1) How can I increase the size of the |query_ifDescr| field? We have verbose port labels and they're being truncated.
2) I've changed the graph title in the template (and everywhere else I can find it), but for some reason the 'stock' name is coming up until I create the graphs, open the template and resave it (no changes are necessary). I'm using the Brocade FC Switch Traffic template and changing the name to "|host_description| - port |query_ifIndex| - |query_ifDescr| " to get a useable graph order.
a) I've deleted the "Brocade FC Switch" graph template, because I don't care about TxWords and it was coming up first. But, it's still showing up. I don't understand where the different data is being pulled from. I've tried updating the *.xmls in <cacti>/resource/snmp_queries as well.
3) I know the poller ran in cron in older versions, but I can't find the cron entry when installed from EPEL. How can I see how often the re-indexing script is being run? I'd rather not have dueling schedules.

Wonderful templates. They work great on the HP Storageworks San Switch 2/32 we have. Including snmp interface statistics for the weathermaps, but I can't seem to get any snmp interface statistics for the Storageworks 2/16 switches we have.

These are the type NA2107. These are HP rebranded Brocade switches 2gbit 16 ports. When I look at creating snmp interface statistic graphs, I only get to see the ethernet port (fei0) and the loopback port (lo0) but none of the fiberchannel ports.

Is this a lack in snmp functionality on the switch devices, or are there different MIBs to adress for these switches?

When I do a verbose query on the snmp interfaces I get this result only: (attached file)
I may be in the same case, are you in "gateway mode" ?
I didn't see the answer to this question in the thread.
I can't find "gateway mode" and all my ports are displaying +1. Can anyone tell me how to get my port numbers in my Cacti graphs to match the actual interface numbers in the switch?

This is the post I got my templates from.
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=161610#p161610.
I don't think I've made any modifications beyond cosmetic and the prescribed change from "last" to "average" to get rid of nan values.

Thanks,
Chaz

I let everything sit for about a week & my port descriptions didn't update.
So we set the reindex hosts in crontab, works great now!

Code: Select all

# Storage team Cati scripts
0,15,30,45 * * * * cd /var/lib/cacti/cli; php ./poller_reindex_hosts.php --id=ALL > /tmp/cacti_reindex_hosts.log 2>&1
I'm still struggling with the questions above.
Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

animalmother wrote:Have noticed that a CDEF with Words * 4 does not look accurate against a portpershow. But a Words * 8 appears to match. Does that make sense to anyone?

A portperfshow is in MB.

Checked in the MIB reference for OS 6 and it said that Words * 4 gives Bytes... but that does not seem to match the reality I am seeing via portperfshow. Or doing a DD on a linux machine attached to SAN and adding up the numbers.

Craig

Hi I have the same issue. After changing to Words * 8 in CDEF the Throuput seems to be right - like in portperfshow. But in some graphs the Throuput is the same value like Words TX and Words TX the same as Words RX. Im very confused.
