[solved] how to check permissions on Windows 7

Post by graphjunkie »

Hello,

I am trying to install cacti on Windows 7. It's a fresh install and graphs are not working.

Operating System: Windows 7
Webserver: Apache 2.2
Cacti: Version 0.8.8a
Spine:
MySQL: 5.1.57
PHP:PHP Version 5.2.17
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 build): 1.4.4 and tried 1.4.7
Net-SNMP:5.6.1.1
Cygwin (cygwin1.dll version):
Plugin Architecture:

SNMP seems to be working. I assume this from the following output when I create a device.

my computer (127.0.0.1)
SNMP Information
System:Hardware: x86 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10 AT/AT COMPATIBLE -
Software: Windows Version 6.1 (Build 7601 Multiprocessor Free)
Uptime: 287829 (0 days, 0 hours, 47 minutes)
Hostname: xxxxx
Location:
Contact:

I am trying to graph output from my local pc and also a cisco router. I get the same behavior for both devices. The "technical support" output looks fine.

I get this error message when I turn on Graph Debug mode,

RRDTool Says:
ERROR: opening 'C:/htdocs/cacti/rra/my_computer_traffic_in_18.rrd': No such file or directory

Logging level is debug. I erased the cacti.log file, and started the process from the begging adding a device and then generating the graph. Attached is the output from the cacti.log file. Is it normal not to see the "rrdtool.exe -create" command?

I have checked the permissions on cmd.exe and rrdtool.exe. I am checking by "right clicking" on rrdtool.exe -> properties ->Security. All group or usernames have "Read & Execute" and "Read" permissions. Is there a better way to check?

What else can I do to check the permissions?

thanks in advance!!

Is the cacti poller running every 5 minutes? I don't see any of those entries in the log.

That's the correct way to check NTFS permissions.
