I need a bit of advise as to some solution and/or hardware so any and all comments are welcome.
I have got a problem where I have an Internet connection where all of my HTTP, FTP, SMTP and VPN traffic goes through and this has a managed Cisco 1601 router which is supplied by the ISP and also a Sun Firewall (Checkpoint) which is managed by one of our other companies.
My problem is that I CANNOT get SNMP access to either the Cisco Router OR Sun Firewall. A solution would obviously be to put a piece of kit between the Firewall and Cisco and monitor that.
My question is what do people suggest I use or is there a better solution than the one I have suggested?
Thanks.

Call your ISP and tell them you want SNMP monitor the router.
If they say no, switch ISP
Btw, I know the pain of switching, I'm just being funny..

What is it you are trying to monitor? In my experience it would be rare for an ISP to give you SNMP polling to something they are managing. Of course if you own the equipment, that is another story.
There may be other solutions to gathering information (sniffers, spanning ports, etc) but without understanding what it is you are trying to monitor it is hard to make a recommendation.
