Cacti can´t create rrd-files

Hi,

I´ve tried a lot and googled about this problem. I´ve Cacti 0.8.8a running on Debian 6.0 and had installed it twice, but til now I haven´t a solution for my problem.
After a complete install with no errors no rrdfiles where created for the preconfigured localhost graphs. Apache error is: No File or directory. The directory /rra exists and has had chmod 777 and chmod 775. Nothing worked. With the development logging setting at cacti no error are shown.
A manual create of the rrdfiles causes the error: you must define at least one round robin archive. Is that the problem?

What could be the cause, that cacti can´t create the rrdfiles? The cacti directory is chown by the user web and group www-data.
Has anyone ideas?

I've installed version .7i now and I'm havin' still the same problems: There are no items in your poller for this polling cycle! No Graphs are rendered.

System Utilities -> Rebuild poller cache

Simple.

Yes. Cacti will perform polling only in case a host is up. And it will create rrd files only if polling was successful ==> hence the problem
