Template Confusion because of wrong data (SOLVED)

Post by morgentau »

I recently bought a couple of environmental sensors from messpc... EthernetBox 1 with 4 ports and 3 environmental sensors each.
I've been successfuly trying to implement some templates to get data and graphs for temperature and humidity...

This morning they all looked like this... Temperature OK. Humidity OK as well.
Temperature OK
Temperature OK
TEMP_OK.png (8.11 KiB) Viewed 474 times
Then i wanted to change the templates again, deleted them and the data sources and so on (i'm not sure what i did) and now they look like this..
Temperature Not OK
Temperature Not OK
TEMP_NOOK.png (7.89 KiB) Viewed 474 times
Humidity Not OK
Humidity Not OK
HUMID_NOOK.png (7.61 KiB) Viewed 474 times
i get temperature and humidity data from the sensors but the numbers on the side are wrong., measuring m instead of whole numbers. Temperatur here is about 25C and humidty is about 40 %RH

Now i searched, changed, reconfigured but i can not get the numbering back. I've got one temperature graph left which works OK. No i do not know where else to look or what to change to get the graphs back...

these are the settings i use...
tempok.jpg
tempok.jpg (125.41 KiB) Viewed 474 times
humidnotok.jpg
humidnotok.jpg (127.86 KiB) Viewed 474 times
It is strange because i'm certain as if i use the same templates and defintions as i do for the working temperature graph... but then, somewhere something is wrong. Any help would mean a lot to me...

Happen to change the data template config? i.e. switched a DS from gauge to counter? 'rrdtool info' command will shed some more details.

Hello,

what i do not understand is, there is one graph left which works OK. This is the one i did not delete. All newly created graphs have this wrong parameters but the collected data looks correct... and as far as i can see, the new graphs are based on all the same templates and sources. I checked and rechecked the configuration...

I checked the data sources, graph management, data templates, host templates, graph templates and compared this with the one graph that is still OK but... but i can't find THE difference... the one setting that is causing all this... i also changed some parameters like counter, gauge. But they are all the same on the good and bad graph anyway...

how do i go about with the rrd Infotool... or can i pick out some other configuration options or screen shots or log data which would mean more to the experienced cacti user... ?

This is what it looks like...

The data template "Get SNMP Data" can not be found under the menu "Data Input Methods" even though it is in the drop down list.

I tried again to repair this issue.

While reading in the help pages of cacti on how to create new templates.. it sais there to import the generic SNMP OID Template if it missing. It was not missing from my instalaltion but still, i did that reimport thing and all is OK now....

But it does not explain why 1 graph is OK while the others are not... they should all use the same template.. NO?
