Im looking to lower the polling to about every 30 seconds instead of every 5 minutes. Before I go ahead and attempt to do this I'd like to ask the community what should i expect/consider before doing this. I have about 25 devices that are currently being monitored.
What are the steps that I would need to take in order to lower the polling. Should I be using spine as the poller type or should is till be good with cmd.php.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks gents!

Re: What to consider when lowering poll times
Lowering the polling time to 30 seconds isn't something I'd recommend personally, but it's definitely an option. I'm not sure exactly what type of data you are polling, or how long your polling is taking now using cmd.php. We would need more information such as how many RRDs total, if it's all snmp queries, or scripts that analyze local data, etc. If you are simply graphing interface statistics, I would suggest using a good netflow or sflow tool to get accurate up to date information.
At minimum, you'll need to reconfigure your RRAs and your data templates. From what I understand, your existing graphs will probably be useless, and you'll need to start with fresh data.
This post explains some of the nuances pretty well, as long as you are on a newer release of cacti: http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=116403
Hope this helps.
